Our home away from home. Hayden hunting crabs in the shallows, Kenneth digging and building in the sand, Jess charging further into the waves than anyone’s comfortable with. Ryan on the smoker with ribs or running a crab and shrimp boil, bikes in the evening, ice cream, and Margie & Ray’s. The balance between the ocean and the back bay is perfect — mornings on the beach, afternoons tubing on Back Bay until the sun drops. We’ve been doing this for years and we’re not stopping.
⭐ Tip: Grab a bike from one of the local rentals — it’s the best way to explore the whole strip.

Placencia is a long narrow peninsula in southern Belize — completely charming, tiny village, extraordinary seafood and world-class reef access. The calm Caribbean side and the bay side give you two totally different vibes. We had a blast. Hire a local boat guide for the day — it’s worth every penny. The river tubing through the jungle was an absolute highlight for the kids, and the reef snorkeling off the cayes is some of the best in the world.
⭐ Tip: Hire a local boat guide — reef snorkeling off the cayes is world-class.

We stayed at Sunset at the Palms and it was genuinely special — individual hut-style rooms set back in the trees, rustic but beautifully done. It’s an adults-only resort, so perfect for a couples getaway or a trip without the kids, but not the right call for a family vacation. Seven Mile Beach is right there, the rum punch is cold and strong, and the sunsets are everything you’ve heard. The water is impossibly blue and the laid-back Jamaican vibe gets into your bones fast.
⭐ Tip: Safe cliff diving, live music, unforgettable sunsets — Rick’s Café is worth every tourist in the crowd.
